Canadiana: Platinum Blonde

The demand for execrable Canadian Bands continues unabated. Call this my guilty pleasure, but Platinum Blonde was one of those Canadian rock bands that I loved, not only for their trite politics, but also because they simultaneously encapsulated the soulless, vacuous, fake blonde, valley girl look of the mid-eighties.

This from a guy who loves nothing more than to retrieve the Saturday Night Fever vinyl album from storage and give it a nostalgic spin once a year.

I always found these guys to be Canadian clones of Duran Duran. That being said I think I have Situation Critical on mp3.

Platinum Blonde was part of the soundtrack of my youth. Thanks for posting these; I've always loved Standing in the Dark.

Now it's time to slip into some rugby pants and get funky.

Rockin good. My favorite Young song, bar none, is Cortez the killer.

The previous comment was intended for the Neil Young post, of course. Like Westworld, something went terribly wrong.

Were you one of the guys who liked Platinum Blonde over Honeymoon Suite?

You'll be hard-pressed to find a Canadian Band that I don't like, though i'm sure there are a few.

I have eclectic tastes when it comes to music.
