I'm just not buying that being a quote from a 4e fan. Usually they are the one screaming 'Neck Beard Grognards are killing gaming!' or some such thing.
Now, in using the phrase in the modern sense, the 4e players are the new grognards...I think it's funny as hell :)
They are well on their way to becoming grognards: they already hate the new edition and wish for the old times. It's like a beautiful beautiful beautiful butterfly coming out of a cocoon.
