We've already done two Canadian Thanks giving dinners. One, at our place on Saturday night, with about 15 of our family members. Roast turkey and cranberries, sausage and apple stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and the usual accompaniments. The second was at a friend's house on Sunday night, again about 15 of us, but this time the menu included Ham, shwartzies potatoes, carrot soup, brussel sprouts and brocolli, and ice cream and pecan and apple pies.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
I feel like I have 12 kg of turkey sitting on my chest. Either that or I'm having a heart attack. Oh, too much food....
ReplyDeleteOoh! Pie!
LOL! Ain't that the truth! There's always room for pie...
ReplyDeleteWe often refer to the Schwarzies potatoes as 'heart attack in a casserole dish'
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHi Paladin in Citadel - This is Ivy, Tim's wife from Gothridge Manor. The picture of the turkey looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteTonight I'm roasting a whole chicken, with corn, gravy and homemade mash. So so good.
Wishing you a most excellent Thanksgiving.

Dinner sounds delicious! I'd drop by unannounced and pull up a chair at the table, but that would (a) be uncool, and (b) cost me a pretty penny in airfare.
Appreciate the thanksgiving wishes!
We'd love to have you. Please do bring some shwartzies potatoes along. I don't know what they are but if they cause heart-attacks, I'm thinking they taste pretty darn good.
ReplyDelete2 lbs frozen hash browns
ReplyDelete2 cups sour cream
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup onion, fried
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Mix everything but the parm together, put it in a casserole dish, sprinkle the parm on top, and bake at 350 for an hour.
Eat. Have heart attack.
:)
Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLots of family around and many things to be thankful for.
Much thanks. Printing the recipe now.
ReplyDeleteIs there a good substitute for the mushroom soup? Would cream of celery work? Tim doesn't like shroons.
About time to put in the chicken. I love the smell of roasted chicken.
Got my chicken in the oven. All seasoned and yummy. I was thinking, maybe a cream of chicken would work (since I can't get Tim to eat anything with mushrooms).
ReplyDeleteAh ... the house is already smelling wonderful. Love it.
Again, thanks for the recipe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I sometimes do one cream of chicken and one cream of mushroom. I think you can do two cream of chicken and it would work perfectly.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good day to be from Calgary. The Flames laid the wood to my beloved Kings last night and today it's Turkey day. A fine day, indeed!
ReplyDeleteGobble gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving. Seeing as the only relative I have in Canada is my mom, there was no turkey. I did make lamb chops yesterday though and well "stuffing" Haha!
ReplyDeleteI know there are a lot of Halloween themed RPG games that can take place, but what about Thanksgiving? Hunt for the great Dinner Rok?

What, so they're now 1, win 1 loss? Anyday is Turkey day ... are Turkeys even available this early in the States?
Gobble, gobble indeed!

Are you in Canada, Johnni? If so, I must move you over to my Canadian blogsroll.
I think the appropriate Thanksgiving game is metagaming's "A fistful of Turkeys"
Thanks. We had turkey last night with friends. My doc's got me on a diet, so I had to take it easy, but it was all delicious.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Yesterday was our night for Turkey dinner, I haven't felt that full in oh say about a year.
ReplyDeleteIndeed I am. Not too far from you actually, being in Edmonton and all.

I get up to Edmonton about once a month (work related). Any good gaming stores?
I never managed to get hold of a turkey, since the weekend was so full of things. Damn, it do look tasty on that picture...
ReplyDeleteI do all my gaming purchases at Warp 1 that's on Whyte Ave and 99 St. Don't know if you'd be able to really amuse yourself there though when you come up as I've heard amazing things about Sentry Box.
