Miniatures Done Right

One of my central compliants with the prepainted Wizards Of The Coast Dungeons and Dragons miniatures line was the lack of quality. It was a combination of average to poor paint jobs and uneven poses. As a result, my DDM purchases were almost exclusively in the after-market.
Paizo's upcoming line of Pathfinder pre-painted miniatures has me quite excited. Not only is Paizo staying true to their artistic source materials, but the miniatures paint jobs are much improved compared to the old DDM miniatures. You only have to look at the sample miniatures in this post to see the improvements.
I'm not a Pathfinder RPG player. But i've already pre-ordered the full Paizo Heroes and Monsters set and am looking forward to receiving it in January 2012.

These are really some of the nicest prepaints I've seen.

We'll see how they turn out in practice, but already loving the return of plastic minis, and with a more classic selection to boot (no more of this Spikeforged Necrokobold nonsense).

Where did you order the full set? I can only find randomized stuff.

These are plastic right? It's hard to tell from Paizo's product page. I tend to like the weight of metal better. I'm also not crazy about the Magic: The Gathering marketing terms (boosters, etc). Do they have rarities and all that too? The paint jobs are quite nice though.

I've purchased the begiiner box character miniatures. The paint jobs are excellent.

To be fair, I really dislike the Pathfinder humanoids ... goblins, trolls, ogres, etc. They look more comic than frightening. Hopefully i'll find some local Pathfinder mini collectors that like those sculpts, and are willing to trade for other figures.

I pre-ordered a case, which Paizo says will all but guarantee a full set. But it means I will have lots of commons and uncommons, along with (hopefully) one of each of the rares.

Yes, I also prefer metal, and these are plastic. You can purchase gorgeous metal Pathfinder minis from Reaper. I don't like the random element (which is why I bought a case) and the rarities, but Paizo says this is the only way that can effectively market these minis. The paint jobs are nice.
